Sore Throat is inflammation of the pharynx or back of the throat. It occurs frequently when people have cold or influenza. Some of the major home remedies for sore throat are:
- Mango Bark: Fluid extracted from mango bark could be applied locally for beneficial results. This could also be used as throat gargle. The gargle is prepared by mixing 10ml of fluid extract with 125ml of water.
- Belleric Myroblan: Another valuable remedy for sore throat. A mixture of fruit pulp, salt, long pepper and honey could be administered for treatment of this condition. The fried fruit covered with wheat flour is also an option.
- Betel Leaves: Betel leaves could be applied locally for obtaining relief. Betel leaves mixed with honey could be taken for a fast relief from sore throat.
- Bishop’s Weed: Infusion of the Bishop’s Weed seeds mixed with common salt can be used beneficially as gargle in acute condition caused by colds.
- Cinnamon: Coarsely powdered and boiled cinnamon in a glass of water with a pinch of pepper powder and honey gives relief. Oil of cinnamon mixed with honey also gives a fast relief.
- Fenugreek: A gargle prepared with fenugreek seeds is very effective in sore throat. To prepare gargle take 2 tsp of fenugreek seeds mixed in a liter of water and allow to simmer for 30 minutes over low flame. Strain the solution once it is down at room temperature.
- Holy basil: Water boiled with holy basil could be taken as a drink and also could be used as gargle.
