Adequate sleep is essential for good health. A good night sleep refreshes you the next day. You feel energetic to take on any task that comes your way. A rested body can withstand any pressures and will function smoothly. One must try to sleep well to avoid health complications.
Why is Lack of Sleep a Serious Health Problem?
- Bodily functions get impaired if you do not sleep well
- One will not feel refreshed the next day
- One tends to feel lethargic and lack of energy
- Concentration is poor
- Performance levels come down. Work productivity comes down
- Late night shifts can lead to coronary diseases and fatigue. Also as one has less sleep, accidents are possible
- One can suffer from overweight, diabetes, breast cancer and cerebral thrombosis
- Functioning of the brain gets affected. One is less alert. Clarity in thinking is not there
- Increases blood pressure which can lead to strokes and heart diseases
- Inadequate sleep weakens the immune system
- Stress levels go up

- One can suffer from depression or aggravate it
- Lack of sleep can cause restlessness
- Proper sleep helps in the treatment of cancer and also in its prevention
