After all, only during your formative years one is able to add on inches. After a certain age, biologically it is difficult to add on inches.

Many claim that there are dietary supplements and special exercises that can increase your height. But is this genetically possible in case you have crossed the age when height can increase further? These supplements can be useful if one was within the physical and biological height range increase. An elderly person cannot think of increasing his height. A growing child on the other hand can definitely grow taller by taking dietary supplements and through regular exercise.

Vitamin A and D as well as E are very beneficial in preserving height. They help in preserving bone mass as one grows older and in turn preserves height. But they do not help in increasing height. Also, it has not been proved that herbal supplements can help increase height. Calcium is very good for bone growth. These supplements are good for a growing child.

Several supplements are there which that has HGH like affects. At the same time these also have side-effects. These are generally used when no other drugs are effective and only on children. You also tend to put on weight due to this treatment. More weight would make you look less tall.

Proper Diet
One need to have proper diet. Good nourishment is essential. One must take adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals. In the formative years, diet plays an important role. But here also proper diet can increase height in growing children.

Exercise
Exercise helps one grow taller during the years when one can biologically grow taller. In the case of older people, strengthening the muscles around the spine helps posture and one can thus retain one’s normal height. As one grows older one tends to slouch and thus look shorter. By straightening one’s back trough these exercises one can retain one’s normal height.

Genetics
This plays an important role in one’s physical growth and development. This decides actually how tall you will be. Chromosome factors do play an important role in determining one’s height.

Whatever said and done, height can only be increased at a certain age. It is biologically predetermined as well as genetics do play an important role.
