How Heredity Effects Height?

Posted on March 8, 2009 in Grow Tall

Heredity plays a major role in deciding the physical attributes of a person. Physical appearance, be it complexion, physical features and height as well are much decided upon by the genes one carries in one’s body system.

Height is also based upon hereditary factors although other factors such as good nutrition, exercise etc. can increase it. What are the factors that make hereditary a major cause in height formation?

Effects of Heredity on Height
Genes – A person’s genes decide the way he or she looks. The chromosome formation at the time of fetus stage lay down the physical features of a person. Children whose parents are tall also grow up to be tall. Genes are passed on from generation to generation.

Race – Race also plays a major role, which is also interlinked to hereditary. The race to which a person belongs decides the height of the person. If racially, the people of a particular race are tall, then you would come across more tall people.

Mixed-race marriages – People belonging to different races can also have am impact on their offspring. If a one partner is tall and the other is short, it is possible that the offspring may either grow up to be tall or short. Here again hereditary does make a difference, as genes decide the physical characteristics of a person.

Here one has observed that hereditary factors do affect height. But other factors can prove this argument otherwise. Which are the other factors that can influence height, other than hereditary?

Hereditary factors do determine one’s height, yet one can also try to increase one’s height through other methods. Being tall is an attractive feature of one’s personality.
