Diabetes can cause memory loss. It can affect cognition if necessary precautions are not taken. Diabetes causes damage to the blood vessels that supply the blood to the brain.

Diabetes is a disease whereby the body does not produce a hormone that can convert sugar into energy. It is not curable. At early stages it can be controlled through diet. But in advanced stage one will require medication and insulin injections.

Diabetes should not be taken lightly. It is a disease which has several side-effects, memory loss being one. One must take necessary precautions and take medication regularly.

Memory loss is generally due to ageing process. Generally people, as they grow older forget to remember things. But diabetes caused memory loss can be equally distressing. Even young people can suffer from memory loss if they are suffering from diabetes.

Diabetes can also cause Alzheimer’s disease.

How can one deal with memory loss due to diabetes?

Stimulating the brain through mental exercises is very good. Physical exercise improves the blood flow to the brain. One must worry. No doubt, memory loss can occur at any age. Nevertheless, staying active helps.
