Asthma is a respiratory disease. The exact cause of Asthma is not known till date.
The Greeks coined the word. It means “short drawn breath” in ancient Greek. An asthmatic experiences difficulty while exhaling breath. Due to lack of proper exhalation, obstructions develop in the airways. Tightness in the chest, coughing and wheezing is the common symptom of this disease. Causes of Asthma causes usually differ from patient to patient. A list of some common causes is given below:

Too cold a weather
Certain food items
Environmental pollution (smoke from industries, vehicles, cigarettes and even kithen)
Certain drugs, drops and syrups
Dust mites
Damp surroundings
Staying indoor for long periods of time
Constant state of anxiety and depression
Certain insects like roaches
Allergens in the air like pollen
Constipation and reflux of gases
Pets

As Asthma causes differ in each case, it is advisable to keep a diary and note down the common irritants. Asthma causes and the home remedies should correspond to each other.
