It is advisable to go in for steel cut oats for controlling diabetes. They are made of chunky one to two pieces of oats, unlike the flaked ones which are instant are not so good for controlling blood sugar levels. These steel cut oats happen to be golden in color and look like rice. They are whole grain oats.
Making oatmeal
No doubt, it is not very tasty yet it is very nutritious. One can add apple as well cinnamon to make it tastier. One also prepare it with vegetables like carrots, peas beans etc. You can boil it in either water or milk, preferably skimmed milk.
