Cystitis refers to a condition in which bacteria has entered the urinary bladder causing inflammation and infection. Bacteria can be enter the bladder through external urinary meatus. The infection can also be secondary to another infection, which is affecting the urinary bladder elsewhere.

Primary home remedies for Cystitis includes:
- Cucumber juice is useful home remedy for Cystitis. It is an effective diuretic. Take a cup of the juice and mix it with honey (1 teaspoonful) and fresh lime juice (1 tablespoonful) to be given three times daily.
- Drumstick flowers juice is also an effective remedy for Cystitis. Take 1 teaspoonful of the juice of the flowers and mix it with tender coconut water. Have it twice in a day. It is an effective diuretic.
- The juice of radish is also very useful. Take a cup of this juice in the morning daily for a fortnight.
- Lady fingers are also very good for treating Cystitis. Make a decoction of 100 gms of the lady fingers as well as 200 ml of water to be taken twice in a day to treat the disease.
- Spinach juice is also very good. Mix 100 ml of the spinach juice, with equal amount of water of tender coconut and have it twice in a day. It is safe as diuretic as it combines nitrates as well as potassium.
- Lemon is also very useful. Put about 1 teaspoonful of lemon juice in boiling water (180ml). Let it cool. Take this water (60ml) every 2 hour from morning 8 a.m to noon (12 a.m). It reduces the burning sensation and also stops bleeding.
- Barley can also be taken to treat Cystitis. Take barley gruel (half glass), mix it with buttermilk and juice of half lime. It is a very good diuretic.
- Sandalwood oil is a good remedy. Initially, one should take it in doses consisting of five drops and then increase it gradually to 10 to 30 drops. One can also add a teaspoonful of carom seeds that is mixed in a glass of water or have it with ten grams of ginger that has been mixed in a cup of water.
- Raw vegetable juice is very good, especially carrot juice. The carrot juice can be taken every 2 to 3 hours.
- One can make special tea consisting of 3 teaspoonful of marshmallow root, 2 teaspoonful of crushed juniper berries, 2tsp of dandelion leaf and 3 teaspoonful of nettle. How to prepare? Take about 4 cups of water and then simmer the marshmallow roots in the water in covered pot for about 5 minutes. Remove the contents from heat, then add the dandelion leaf, juniper berries, nettle and steep it for 15 minutes. Strain it and then drink 3-4 cups throughout the whole day.
- Drink plenty of water to flush out the bacteria. The urine gets diluted and does not sting that much during urination.
- Eat cabbage and garlic daily.
- Drink onion juice on daily basis.
- Oranges and Pineapples are good for Cystitis.
- Eating banana bark is very good.
- Put about 1 teaspoonful of parsley in 1 cup of boiling water. Steep it for 15 minutes. Strain it and sweeten it. Drink several cups in a single day for 2 days
- One can take water-lemon juice.
- Taking Yogurt is good.
