Common cold is a routine infection primarily caused by virus. The causes of common cold are difficult to diagnose as it can cause due to one of more then 200 types of viruses. Common cold could affect nose and throat. Sometimes infection in lungs and larynx could not be ruled out. It is generally communicable during first 24 hours of infection. We would not put too much emphasis on the causes of common cold rather we would try to look into common cold home remedies.

More then 200 viruses could cause common cold. Due to this reason, there is no sure shot medicing for the same. It is difficult to find a pill which could increase immunity to some of the viruses which is the primarily causes of common cold. These viruses could be passed from one person to other when infected person sneezes or coughs.

The general symptoms of the common cold are:
- Watery eyes
- Sore throat
- Runny nose
The other symptoms of common cold are unpleasant nasal discharge, headache, and slight fever.

There is no proper common cold treatment. It is relieved by its own within a week’s time. However, common cold treatment could consist of relieving one from its symptoms such as stuffy nose, headache, congestion, or even mild fever. Paracetamol tablets relieve from these symptoms.
Home remedies for the common cold
Common cold home remedies includes:
- Black tea is great in common cold. It is prepared with black pepper, ginger, and tulsi leaves. If taken 3-4 times a day, relieves from headache, runny nose and cold throat.
- One could also take one amla twice daily. Amla helps in strengthening the respiratory immunity
- Milk mixed with turmeric is a great common cold home remedy. Mix half tsp of turmeric powder with a cup of milk 2-3 times a day for complete relief.
- Inhale steam of boiled turmeric with water. This is also a good home remedies for the common cold
