Remedies for a sinus infection
Remedies for a sinus infection. Let's have a look at remedies for a sinus infection or rather say home remedies for a sinus infection.
The passage of discharge through the nose sweeps as well as washes the membranes lining the nose. They tend to pick up bacteria, dust particles and other air pollutants along the way. The mucus gets pushed backwards into the throat by cilia which are tiny hairs. From the throat it is swallowed into the stomach, where dangerous bacteria get destroyed by acids.
The problem arises when the nasal passages get inflamed or irritated by an attack of allergy, smoke, air pollution, or perhaps viral infection such as flu or cold. In such a situation the sinus membrane and the nose secrete more mucous than the usual amount. They swell and block the openings and prevent the smooth flow of the mucous as well as air which allows bacteria to flourish.
Sinus is of two types - acute as well as chronic. When the attack is acute then it lasts for about a week or ten days, resulting in a headache that ranges from a minor one to bone-shattering.
